Fru Nimb is a classic Danish open-face sandwich restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen, lavishly topped with with a love for the best ingredients and warm hospitality.

Wherever possible, we use local produce, always choosing the best each season can offer, with an authentic focus on organic options. Enjoy generously topped open-face sandwiches for lunch or traditional Danish dinner dishes at one of the city’s best restaurants, crafted with care and respect for proud traditions – with views over Tivoli. Fru Nimb is situated in the heart of beautiful Tivoli and when the Gardens are open, admission is required to visit the restaurant.

At Fru Nimb, we celebrate the changing seasons with a delicious seasonal menu showcasing the best ingredients from each season.  

Please note 

  • that the seasonal menu is only available in the evening 
    that groups of 10 guests or more are considered a private party, which requires a minimum spend of 950 DKK

Beer, aquavit, and wine

Fru Nimb offers a wide range of the classic Danish spirit aquavit, typically served with open faced sandwiches. We even have home made varieties! We also serve a wide variety of beer and wine. Please feel free to ask your waiter for recommendations.

If you’re looking for the ideal setting for your next event, Fru Nimb is a natural choice.

Our elegant restaurant offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere – perfect for both small and large gatherings. The terrace opens up to the beautiful Tivoli Gardens, adding a magical touch to the experience. We can accommodate up to 100 guests and are happy to host everything from private celebrations and corporate events to special occasions.

Behind Fru Nimb

Fru Nimb is named after Louise Nimb, who was one of the great Copenhagen restaurateurs of the 1800s. In Tivoli Gardens, she and her husband, Vilhelm, managed the Divan 2 establishment. She was a masterly chef and published a very popular cookbook, Fru Nimbs Kogebog. Above all, she was an excellent hostess who knew how to make everyone feel welcome, gentry and commoners alike.

Everything Louise Nimb had learnt about the restaurant business she passed on to her daughters, Henriette and Serina, who were handed responsibility for Restaurant Nimb in 1909 when the establishment first opened.
The restaurant “Fru Nimb” opened in spring 2015.
